First, people gain excess weight by consuming foods that are high in calories, sugars, and fats (Aktar, Qureshi and Ferdous 38). Maintaining body weight begins by cutting down on the consumption of these foods. These unhealthy foods should be replaced by vegetables, fruits, and adequate water. Second, obesity is caused by an imbalance between consumed and utilized calories. People should exercise to burn the excess fat. UNICEF recommends 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity or 150 minutes of moderate activity each work (UNICEF). Lastly, people should eliminate unhealthy triggers such as anxiety and depression. There is empirical evidence that associates stress with binge eating (Clark et al. 605). During stressful moments, people should seek assistance from family members, friends, or a mental health professional.

The best approach to maintain body weight is healthy eating. Healthy eating prevents excess fats from accumulating in the body in the first place. Moreover, good eating habits fit today’s society that is characterized by; urbanization, improved modes of transportation, and spending more time working on computers while seated. A combination of these factors cause stress and also discourage people from burning excess fat through physical activities.
