This paper asks you to relate what you have learned about philosophical ethics to what you are learning about nature.
Specifically, you should examine the value of one approach to ethics by considering how it would respond to contemporary issues in the human relation to the natural world. Prepare the way for this evaluation by presenting and applying this approach to ethics to some question about how we relate to nature, as we have seen these raised in Emma Marris’s Rambunctious Garden: Link to text: https://b-ok.africa/book/5944096/883b3c
One of the major challenges of this paper is to find a way to relate our readings in ethics to Marris’s book. It is worth taking the time to think about how you will do this. It may be useful to recall that Marris’s book moves by considering different ideas of the human relationship to nature and how these shape better or worse responses to problems of ecological damage and disaster, threats of extinction, and climate change. With this in mind, you could begin to think about your paper by considering how different ethical approaches would respond to some particular problem in the human relation to the natural world and what Marris would think of that response.
