Identify one of the social work issues/fields of practice included in the first class assessment (Community Resources) that interests you. If you have an area of interest that isn’t included in the list, check with your instructor for approval first. Then, write a well-researched paper that discusses the issue/field of practice in relation to the following guidelines: Why are you, in particular, interested in this area? What else has been written about this topic? How do dominant worldviews conceptualize this issue/field of practice? What other conceptualizations are there about this issue/field of practice? How do values and ethics relate to this topic? How do power and privilege relate to this topic? How might your inquiry and reflection influence your experiences and interactions after this course is over? Use weekly class readings, class discussions, and additional peer-reviewed articles to support your ideas. I have found that it takes somewhere around 10 pages (double-spaced) to sufficiently complete this paper. You’ll need to have a minimum of 10 references, 7 of which must be peer-reviewed journal articles.
