Kafka most certainly knew of Ovid’s work, and it is likely that he named his story in the singular as a definite reference to the older text. While Kafka’s title is singular–referring to only one “change”–and Ovid’s title is plural–he writes about many people changing forms–there are other more subtle points of convergence and divergence. Please write a page describing your observations. How does Kafka’s text show similarities to Ovid’s text? How do the texts differ?

Write a brief topic proposal—the topic for your research paper. You should identify a topic, and a specific issue and research question within that topic, that stems from your specific academic interests in your major field of study. Make sure it is a topic you really want to learn more about because you will be working on it for the rest of the semester. Essentially, you are making the case that this is a good topic for you to write about, that your research question is important, that you are prepared to research this issue, and you will explain how you will go about doing so. In other words, convince me that this is a good idea and that you are the right person to do this research at this time.
Continue readingIdentify three of the essential core elements of the Big Bang story, then select any three cultural stories. Discuss and conclude whether the Big Bang elements have similarities in any of the three cultural stories.
The title is clear in its intent: to determine what is really unique to the Big Bang Model relative to the three myths that you selected. Make sure to compare all the core elements of the Big Bang Model to elements of each legend in order to determine which elements of the BB model have no counterparts in each legend.
Select a client system, (an individual (micro), family, group, (mezzo) or representatives from an organization or community (macro). You will then identify a presenting concern brought by the client system in a summary paragraph and then provide the dialogue between you and the client(s). This interaction should be a demonstration of an initial meeting with a client during which you are engaging them in the helping process and beginning the assessment phase.
Continue readingAll historians must be careful about sources, but Achaemenid Persia arguably presents some of the greatest source challenges any historian will encounter. Reflect on how our sources for Achaemenid history shape the way we interpret the empire. Begin your essay by assessing the overall nature of the evidence for Achaemenid history—including textual, archaeological, numismatic, and other sources. Why do the sources for Achaemenid Persia present us with such challenges? What is at stake for our broader historical understanding of the empire?

What were the causes of World War I and how was this war different than previous ones?
What are the next great ideas in occupational science? As the current and future leaders in the profession, what do you feel needs to be addressed?
Consider AOTA’s Vision 2025: “As an inclusive profession, occupational therapy maximizes health, well-being, and quality of life for all people, populations, and communities through effective solutions that facilitate participation in everyday living” (AOTA, 2018, p. 2).
Amy Lamb (2018) and Debra Young (2018) gave fabulous presentations last fall about AOTA’s vision for our future (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2017) and posed some bold guiding questions and challenges to practitioners. For example:
Read the Nican Mopohua, the story of the appearance of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, to a Native American, Juan Diego, north of Mexico City in 1531. Respond to the In Depth Question #1 in Feduccia, page 187. After you have read and responded to the reading, read the theological interpretation of this appearance story for contemporary Christians. Our Lady of Guadalupe, as this appearance is called, is seminal for Latin American (and especially Mexican) Catholicism.
Continue readingYou are the RN at the local clinic; NR is a 41 year-old Caucasian female and single mother of 3 who presents with a “pounding and throbbing” headache, the third of its kind within the past month. She works part-time at Walmart and is taking nursing courses in the evening. She denies alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs. She sleeps about 5 hours each night, admits to poor eating habits-drinking 3-4 cups caffeine, and eating candy “more than she should”. NR describes her pain as being localized to the right temple, increasing in intensity over the past hour rating her pain as a 9 out of 10. She also complains of non-radiating neck pain and states the bright lights in the clinic make her feel worse as she now feels nauseous and dizzy though she has not vomited. Lying in a dark quiet room makes her feel better. Sometimes taking ibuprofen 600mg also helps though her last dose was yesterday. She denies any previous medical history, has never been hospitalized except for childbirth (uncomplicated vaginal deliveries x3), no surgical history, no significant family history.
Continue readingRewrite the Reluctant Fundamentalist from the perspective of a character outside the narrator’s/speaker’s/camera’s purview. Your writing should be based on the work’s depiction of that character, both what the work sees and what it fails to. Here are a few questions you should address as you write your answer:
1) How does the work in question depict the character you’ve chosen? Do you trust the work’s understanding of that character? Or has the work—intentionally or not—missed something crucial about them (perhaps with respect to their motivations and their desires, or their interior life generally)?
