Write an argumentative or persuasive essay in which you encourage your audience to resist participating in, or even to oppose actively, some trend you see in fashion, behavior, politics, society, etc. At some point in the paper, as part of a coherent argument, briefly suggest an alternative strategy or a better course of action; however, the bulk of your paper should be concerned with arguing against something and strengthening your own position in contrast to something. The topic of debate is yours to choose, and it can range from the environment to society to politics to arts/ culture to entertainment to sports to pop culture. You can also pick an editorial, opinion piece, or a magazine/newspaper column which takes a strong position and argue against the author’s point of view.
