Part A: Patient Centred Study   (2500 words)

This part of the assessment focuses on two domains of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, and Nursing Practice and Decision Making (NMC 2010).

This assignment seeks to assess the student’s ability to integrate theory and practice. The student is required to identify an adult patient they have cared for and to write an evidence based patient centred study which critically analyses one significant aspect of that patient’s care. Introduce the perspectives of each domain that you will be using and briefly outline what is to be included in the patient centered study by identifying the individual stages of the assignment.

Provide a brief social, family and nursing history of the patient and introduce the setting in which care was delivered.

Main Body of the study

Identify one significant aspect of an adult’s care and, with a clear focus on the NMC (2010) domains of Communication and Interpersonal Skills and Nursing Practice and Decision Making, provide a critical analysis of this aspect of the adult’s care and the challenges it presented. Discussions must be supported by relevant and current evidence.

A Conclusion

Summarize and review the major issues which have emerged for yourself and adult nursing

Part B: Professional Development Plan Analysis     (1250 words)

This part of the assessment focuses on Leadership. Management and Team working domain (NMC 2010) with a specific focus on competences 3, 5 and 6.

The student is required to select and introduced one of the short term SMART goals developed as part of the Role Transition module to analyse their professional development as an adult nurse with a specific focus on their progress towards achieving this goal. This part of the assessment may be written in the first person. Discussions must be supported by relevant and current evidence.

The analysis should be presented in three stages

Briefly identify the chosen SMART goal, setting it within the context of the Leadership, Management and Team Working domain (NMC 2010) and the role of an adult nurse

Provide a critical discussion of the student’s personal and professional development in relation to the chosen SMART goal with a specific focus on competences 3, 5, and, 6 in the domain of Leadership. Management and Team working NMC (2010)

Provide a summary of the major issues that have emerged with specific reference to the student’s progress towards achieving the SMART goal.

Part C: Progress Report         (1250 words)

This part of the assessment focuses on the Professional Values domain (NMC 2010
